LESSONS FOR ALL AGES
I have been a teacher for 10+ years and given more than 10,000 individual lessons. I've worked hard to develop systems for grading and sequencing learning materials. The most important thing a teacher can do is to thoroughly know the materials they teach- and I can easily help a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student find new and exciting things to learn.
I bring much of my classical guitar training to my teaching philosophy. It helps me incorporate two fundamental concepts into every lesson: music theory and proper technique. Simply put, music theory is what you’re playing, and technique is how you play it. Understanding both lets you feel confident and free as a player. When I have an intermediate or advanced student come to me, these are usually the issues they want addressed to take their playing to the next level. Having observed this, I make sure my beginner students have routines for understanding and improving these fundamentals in every lesson.
My proudest accomplishments include helping numerous students prepare for the high school guitar program at YPAS/Manual and also college jazz, classical, and music therapy programs. I love working with children and have successful students from ages 4 to 74! While I specialize in classical guitar, I also love teaching rock, jazz, music theory and beginner piano.
My Teaching

My Studio
I operate from the basement of my home in the Hawthorne neighborhood of The Highlands. My family has been here since May 2022 and in that time, I’ve been working to prepare a space to teach in. Having a home studio has been a dream of mine since I began teaching 10+ years ago and it allows me to offer the most resources to my students.
My space features a full library of educational materials, a stock of instruments, accessories, and tools to help assess and meet my student’s needs. The 600 square foot space also includes a comfortable waiting area, and seating in the lesson room for parents to observe their kids.
